Ford shift knob 3d leather cutter
One of our customers asked us to design 3D leather cutter machines for Ford Ranger, Ford Mustang and last but not least for the 5 and 6 gear shift knob.
The customer's request was to cut the extra leather off from the shift knobs, that is on them because of the manufacturing technology. The cut must be very precise, and repeatable 1000 times per a day. The other request was to use less machines and less steps for cutting to decrease the time of manufacturing.
That is why we offered to turn the shift knob between 2 cuttings, or use easy retrofit components on the machines when changing shift knob types.
To provide enough force for cutting but remain as simple as possible we used manual presses. We designed and fitted individual positioning seats and 3D cutting blades for the task. The machines and the blades were designed in Solid Edge by the given factory models.
All the machines are fitted with pneumatic safety lock and transparent safety cover.
We also developed our return stroke lock as well that is tested on these machines what I will introduce in another post.
As our office is usually providing - we have generated and made all the required documentation for these single purpose machines as well. So, the customer got all the documents i.e. technical description, settings manual, exploded view drawings with spare parts catalogue.
